Data Governance Lead

As Data Governance Lead within our Data & Analytics team, you play an instrumental role in the realization of this vision by leading the set-up, improvement and roll-out of SNCB’s data governance framework.

Role & Responsibilities

  • You lead a team of data governance experts and officers
  • You manage scope, planning and cost of your team’s activities - you report on your team’s activities to higher management
  • You provide vision/guidance on all dimensions of SNCB’s data governance framework (data operating model, data roles & responsibilities, data governance bodies, business glossary, data catalog, data quality policy, data privacy policy, ...) – you make sure the framework is aligned with the company’s strategic objectives and needs.
  • You lead the definition of SNCB’s data governance framework in collaboration with all relevant business and IT stakeholders
  • You communicate and explain SNCB’s data governance framework within business and IT, including at management level
  • You insure your team provides the necessary support, coaching and training to business and IT during the roll-out of SNCB’s data governance framework - special attention is required to make sure the business understand their new (operational) roles (data owner, data steward)
  • You define useful KPI’s in order to measure the effectiveness of the implemented framework
  • You pro-actively challenge (the realization of) the data governance framework to make it evolve where/when required
  • You lead data governance communities within SNCB
  • You ensure your team follows up on data governance operations, insuring data governance deliverables and information are of quality and up-to-date – in particular, you make sure information contained in the data catalog and data quality tools is monitored.
  • You insure your team has special focus on the governance of master data
  • You make sure your team addresss any data governance issues that need particular attention.
  • You assess Data Quality at the enterprise level and define you clear action plans addressing the needs,
  • You identify Data Privacy issues and propose corrective actions
  • You propose improvements on data literacy and you provide trainings where/when needed

Your profile:

  • You have minimum 5 years of proven experience in leading the implementation of data governance, data modelling, data protection and privacy by design activities in a large company
  • You have good knowledge of Enterprise Architecture and Data & Analytics
  • You have experience with the implementation of industry-leading data management and governance tools
  • You have a master’s degree or equivalent by experience
  • CIGO, AAIM or equivalent certification is a plus
  • You have a data-driven mindset
  • You can analyze complex situations and define realistic targets to achieve a given objective
  • You can summarize and present regulatory and technical information to non-technical audiences
  • You can engage with senior management and executives on data governance topics
  • You have knowledge of risk data architecture methods and related technology solutions
  • You have excellent written and oral communication skills,
  • You have an active knowledge of Dutch or French (with preferably at least a basic knowledge of the other language) and English
