The position is part of an ongoing research and development project at the Innovation. The project investigates the possibility of using fast load flow solvers and optimization techniques  to find topological actions.

Responsibilities

• Prepare and optimize the grid data for load flow computations
• Optimize existing grid analysis computations on massively parallel hardware.
• Work on new methods to accelerate network load flow calculations,
• Work with network data to ensure the applicability of these methods in practice,
• Optimization of existing grid analysis calculations on GPUs
• Develop and work in the topology optimizer product as a developer with electrical engineering expertise.
• Carrying out benchmarks to identify bottlenecks and for quantitative evaluation.
• (Optional) scientific publication of the knowledge gained.

Requirements

• Electrical engineering knowledge focus load flow computations
• Knowledge of parallel programming patterns and massively-parallel hardware (GPUs)
• Strong knowledge on Python, optional: Jax
• Experience in one of the tools using Pandapower, Powsybl
• Min 5 years of experience in modeling energy systems
• Experience with porting algorithms
• BSc or MSc in Computer Science, engineering, informatics, or similar is a plus
• Fluent in English. Additional language skills in German, Dutch or French is a plus
• Good communication skills
