Global Data (Warehouse) Engineer

The Global Data Engineer will play a key technical role in building up the Global RBM and CSM data warehouses. They will be a key contributor in the IT application landscape and take on an executing role in certain global RBM domains to ensure an end-to-end data flow.

The RBM BU is growing at a brisk pace, which means a more standardised and automated way of working is increasingly important. To bring the different departments to the next level in terms of digitalisation and standardisation, they are developing a modern data platform to maximise business insight and utilise data for added value digital initiatives on a local and global level.

Umicore is a global materials and technology group, focused on reducing harmful emissions, giving new life to used metals and powering sustainable mobility solutions. They are currently looking for a Global Data Engineer for the Rechargeable Battery Materials (RBM) business unit.

Your main responsibilities include:

  • Core member of project teams
  • Building, maintaining and administering best-in-class ETL packages
  • Building dimensional models for self-service BI solutions
  • Defining test scenarios, performing unit and integration testing
  • Provide first level support

Your profile:

We’re looking for an analytical yet creative, mature, assertive and dynamic personality with excellent interpersonal skills. You’re customer-oriented, result-driven and focused on delivering quality. You’re independent and organised, willing to the extra mile when needed.

Additionally, it is preffered you have:

  • Master’s degree in applied computer sciences, IT, mathematics or economy
  • Minimum of 2 years’ relevant work experience in the ETL and Data Warehouse domains
  • Good understanding of self-service BI governance
  • Technical knowledge:
    • Data visualisation: QlikSense, PowerBI
    • Data Warehouse: Azure SQL server, Azure Data Lake
    • ETL: thorough knowledge of TimeXtender
  • Knowledge about DB connectivity to access different data sources
  • Business process minded
  • Good communication and collaboration skills
